Obituary of Thomas J. Flanagan

Thomas J. Flanagan, 82, of Manchester, the husband of the late Patricia A. (Bohan) Flanagan died peacefully Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Born in Somerville, MA he was the son of the late Thomas and Anne Flanagan. He was raised in Somerville, graduated with a Bachelor's degree from St. Anselm College and was a longtime resident of Manchester. Tom was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was a communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester. He was a teacher at both Verplank School and Illing Jr. High School in Manchester and was a retired self-employed painter. He was a friend of Bill Wilson since 1975, where he had the privilege of knowing many good men. He is survived by his children Kathleen A. Brown of Springfield, MA, Kevin P. Flanagan and his wife Denise of Norfolk, MA, Michael J. Flanagan of Venice, CA, daughter-in-law Dorothy Bouvier of West Hartford, Maureen Flanagan of Tolland, CT, Trish Flanagan of Medford, MA and daughter-in-law Karen Voorhees of Medford, MA; his grandchildren Brendan, Shaina, Dalia, Michaela, Sabra, Darric, Carey and Madeline; his sister Virginia Berkeley of California and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his son Carey T. Flanagan; and siblings, Mary, Pat, Betty, Kay, Anne and Frank. Funeral service will be held on Friday (October 31st) at 11:15 from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 at St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
