Obituary of Adler Dobkin

M. Adler Dobkin, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, passed away of cancer Oct. 22 at the age of 83. Adler spent his early years growing up on a farm in Ellington, CT with his parents, the late Leon and Rebecca (Levy) Dobkin. Later the family moved to Manchester, CT where Adler became a lifetime resident. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1951-1955. He spent a year in Korea from 1953-1954. He was owner of Rayco Inc. a metal finishing company in Middletown, CT. He married Elsa Wallack in 1957. They had two children, Lori and Glenn. Adler became active in local town politics, becoming Republican Town Chairman, chairman of Planning & Zoning Commission, and chairman of Ethics Commission. He was also a trustee at Manchester Memorial Hospital and a director at the Savings Bank of Manchester. Adler was a good man with impeccable integrity. His memory and his legacy are undeniable. He was extremely well loved and respected by everyone who knew him and his contributions were many. He is survived by his wife Elsa, daughter Lori and her husband Michael Napolitano and son Glenn, his sister Audrey Brett of Rhode Island. He was predeceased by his sister Izanne Holt. He has 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A reception to celebrate his life will be held Monday, Oct. 27 at Cavey's from 3-6. His family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the hospice nurses and staff at the Visiting Nurses of Vernon and Dequattro Cancer Center for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Adler.
