Nels C. Johnson, Jr., 57, loving son of Emma W. Johnson and the late Nels C. Johnson passed away suddenly Sunday, October 19th surrounded by his family. He was born in Hartford on November 4, 1956 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester. Nels was a thoughtful, honorable, loyal and giving person who cherished his family. He was always ready to extend a helping hand and make people laugh. Besides his mother, Emma, Nels is survived by his brother Harry Johnson and his wife Jeanne of Ellington, his sisters Sharon Burnham of Suffield, Marybeth Johnson of Manchester and Jill Slahtosky and her husband Jim of South Windsor and several nieces and nephews, Genevieve DeMaio, Rebecca Johnson, Eric Burnham, Amy Lateano, Joshua, Jacob, Jason and Jimmy Slahtosky. Nels family would like to offer a special note of thanks to both the Manchester EMT's and the staff at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24th at 11:00 at Emanuel Lutheran Church Manchester followed by burial in East Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the John F.
