Obituary of Cindy Arnold

Cindy Jean (Bednarz) Arnold, 58, of Manchester, the beloved wife of Clyde C. Arnold, to whom she was married to for more than 18 years, died Friday, October 10, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital, in Hartford, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of Francesca (Greco) Bednarz of East Hartford and the late Tony Bednarz. Cindy grew up in East Hartford, graduated from Penney High School in East Hartford in 1973, received an A.A. in General Studies from Manchester Community College in Manchester, CT, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in history from Central Connecticut State College in 1978. She started employment at the Aetna in 1979, working as a Business Information Specialist in Operations/Planning, Finance, Administration and as a Personnel Coordinator in the Claim Department, among other jobs, retiring in 2002. Cindy also worked for Companions and Homemakers from 2003-2005. Cindy was a kind, friendly and gentle person. A true history buff, she enjoyed studying the Civil War and British Royalty. She also had a particular fondness for lighthouses. Her 1995 trip to Gettysburg was memorable. Cindy also loved reading Jane Austen books and watching the BBC productions. Cindy loved animals, especially her two black cats Ember and Ashley. She is survived by her stepdaughter T.J. Sorensen and her husband Charlie of Glastonbury, her brother Peter Latournes and his wife Cindy of Windsor Locks, her brother Bill Latournes, her best friend from childhood Maria Gionfriddo of East Hartford, her longtime friend Rose Ballesteros, her special uncle Pete Greco, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Protectors of Animals, 144 Main Street, East Hartford, CT 06118 or to an ovarian cancer charity of the donor's choice. Funeral service will be private.
