Richard M. Demko, M.D., of Manchester, the husband of Lorraine (Pillard) Demko died Saturday (October 11, 2014) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Martin and Katherine (Walek) Demko. He attended pre-med studies at the University of Connecticut and received his medical degree from New York University. Dr. Demko was a veteran of the US Army. He was happiest when surrounded by his whole family. He opened his private practice in 1955 and retired after 42 years. He is survived by his children Barbara Kowal and her husband Edward of North Haven, Robin Teets of Vernon, Donna Tupper and her husband Mike of Manchester, Mark Demko and his wife Mary Ann of Vernon, and Gary Demko and his wife Jacqueline of Manchester; and his grandchildren, Alycia Mulhern and husband Jonathan, Kevin Teets, Breahn Neyers and husband Jason, Ashley Picazio and husband Frank, Tyler Tupper and fiancée Rachel Cocola, Beau Demko and his wife Colleen and Bailey Demko, Brittany Devanney and husband Tim, Thomas, Taylor and Tanner Demko. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Hayden, Carter, Camden, Paxton, Kaelyn, Claire, and Mattingly. He is survived by numerous extended family members who were his closest friends. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Robert Teets and grandson Garrett Kowal. The family would like to thank the staff in the ICU at St Francis Hospital and the care givers at The Village at Buckland Court. A memorial service will be held on Friday (October 17th) at 11:00 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by burial in East Cemetery.
