Kathleen Halko Moffitt, age 69, passed away on October 2, 2014 at Hartford Hospital where she had received wonderful care the last weeks of her life. Born on St. Patrick's Day, 1945, in Albany, New York, Kathy had more luck than many and a fighting spirit to match. A three-time cancer survivor, Kathy's determination was undeniable, and so was her love of family and friends. In 1969, Kathy met John Moffitt at a Halloween party and quietly announced to a colleague that she would marry John someday. In 1970, they wed and soon moved to Manchester, CT. In Connecticut, Kathy worked for AETNA, the Manchester Public Schools and the University of Connecticut, though her happiest job was raising her son, Greg. Kathy is survived by John and Greg, and leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends, especially her daughter-in-law, Jenny Lester Moffitt and granddaughter, Maddie Moffitt of Davis, California. Friends and family meant the most to Kathy. There wasn't a holiday meal with relatives up in New York that she didn't enjoy, especially the loud Italian "conversations" around the table, and hand written Christmas cards were a cherished tradition. A dedicated volunteer, PTA events and musical fundraisers were always a favorite of Kathy's. And while she loved spending time celebrating the life and accomplishments of others, Kathy felt happiest working quietly in her garden. There wasn't a rose bush she couldn't bring back to life! There will be a service on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 4pm - 8pm at Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street, Manchester, CT.
