Gladys C. Petersen (Carr) , 87 the wife of the late Herbert Raymond Petersen died peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Manchester Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born in Hartford and had lived in Manchester most of her life. Besides her loving family some of the joys in Gladys's life included playing bingo, holidays and Sunday dinners with her family and playing with the cats, shopping and lunch with her sister, and seeing her grandsons grow up. She is survived by her children Andrew C. Petersen and his girlfriend Lisa Fine of Manchester and Elen M. Steelman of Manchester, her grandsons whom she loved beyond words Kyle J. Steelman and Joshua C. Steelman both of Manchester. Her brother William Carr of Florida and her sister Joan Dupuis of Enfield and many of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings George Carr, Edward Carr, Marvin Carr, Frederick Carr, Philip Carr, Marion Mercier and Marjorie Popple. We would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Manchester Hospital, the VNA of Vernon and CCCI for providing wonderful services to our mother for many years when we couldn't be there. Calling hours and a small memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester from 4:00-7:00pm and burial will be in East Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
