Gail (Martinelli) Myers, 67, of Manchester, CT passed away at home on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded and comforted by her beloved husband of 44 years, Stephen Myers, and her daughters, Melissa and Stephanie. Gail was born in Stamford, CT on August 23, 1947, to the late Louis and Nancy Martinelli. She grew up in Stamford and had fond childhood memories spent with her many cousins, aunts and uncles. She attended Stamford High School and later graduated summa cum laude from the University of Connecticut with a degree in English. Gail and Steve met after college while working together at Aetna. Gail stayed home with her young children and later returned to work at Manchester Community Technical College. She subsequently worked for many years at the Manchester Board of Education until retiring in 2011. Gail was known for her strength, devotion to her family and kind heart. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. In later years, she especially loved being with her three granddaughters. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading, taking walks and spending time near the water, especially in Newport, RI, where she spent one week with her family every summer. She also loved to travel and upon retirement, she fulfilled her dream of traveling to both Alaska and Australia. Besides her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Falkowski and Stephanie Myers. Melissa lives in Colchester, CT with her husband, Marek and two daughters, Sophia and Isabella. Stephanie lives in New York City with her husband, Adrian Crockett, and daughter, Madeleine. She also leaves behind her brother, Donald Martinelli, and his wife, Karen, 4 nephews, 2 nieces and many longtime and devoted friends.
