Obituary of Doris Longest
Doris (Bousquet) Longest of Granby, CT and formerly of Manchester, CT and N. Ft. Myers, FL, beloved wife of Samuel L. Longest, passed away peacefully on Friday August 1, 2014 after a courageous battle with lung and liver cancer surrounded by her loving family. Doris was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Delphine (Sequin) Bousquet and passed away 37 years to the day of her fathers' death. Born in Colchester, VT on August 18, 1929, she is survived by her husband Samuel L. Longest, her daughter Sharon and son-in-law Paul Hebert of Manchester, son Brian and daughter-in-law Hélène (Boucher) Longest of Granby, and her special grandchildren Ashley and Benjamin Longest whom she treasured. Doris is survived by her beloved sisters Lucille (Bousquet) Biondi of Palmetto, FL and Theresa (Bousquet) Canas of Cheshire, CT. and many nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart. Doris was a devoted wife and always there for Sam and would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary on Sept. 12. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was sure to attend each of their school functions with joy. She made sure to always tell her children how proud she was of them. Doris retired in 1985 after 20 years of service with SNET. She enjoyed each day of her retirement, loved going on cruises with Sam, painting and camping in Stafford Springs with their many friends. She most recently enjoyed going to lunch at the Granby Senior Center and was a fan of the UCONN womens' basketball team. She held many memories with family and friends close to her heart. We would like to thank Dr. Theresa Caputo, Dr. Joerg Rathmann, staff at the Saint Francis / Mt. Sinai Regional Cancer Center, the staff from Farmington Valley VNA and ComForcare in Avon for their compassion and care for Doris and her family. We will forever cherish our fond memories shared with her. To our family and friends we extend our many thanks for your support and compassion.
