Obituary of Gary A. Matulaitis
Gary A. Matulaitis, 64, of Manchester, CT beloved husband of Barbara A (Nickerson) Matulaitis, died peacefully after a long battle with brain cancer, at St. Francis Hospital with his family at his side listening to ESPN. Gary was born November 12, 1949 in Bow, NH, son of the late Walter & Ivy (Palmer) Matulaitis. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Gary was a truck driver with Stephens Pipe and Steel of Manchester, CT. He was an avid golfer, Red Sox and Patriots fan. In 2013 he was fortunate enough to attend Opening Day and a World Series game at Fenway Park. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Jaime Matulaitis of Vernon, CT and Jessica Matulaitis of Manchester, CT, his brother Edward Matulaitis of Bow, NH, and his sister Nancy Pierce of Henderson, NV., and several nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his son Adam L. Matulaitis. Funeral services will be held at Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, CT. Calling hours will be on June 25, from 6 - 9 pm. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery the following day at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Cancer Center, 114 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105. Please earmark the donation for brain cancer research in memory of Gary.
