Arlene D. "Toots" Chapin, 78, of Manchester, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family nearby on Saturday, May 24, 2014. Born in Plymouth, CT she was the daughter of the late Lester and Viola Markie. She had retired from the claims department at the Aetna after many years of service. She loved her adventures to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods and Toots will be remembered for her honesty and sharp wit. She is survived by her daughters, Susan E. Montminy and her husband Marc Montminy of Manchester, and Terry Chapin-Porch and her husband Tom Porch of Bloomfield; her grandchildren Jamie, Jordan and BJ Bennett; 7 great-grandchildren; her siblings Lester, Donald, Lawrence, William Markie, and Ann Vaugh; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and best friend Rose Johnson. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 29th, at 6:00 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester.
