Louis J. Halpryn, 81, the husband of Ada (McLaughlin) Halpryn died on Friday (February 17, 2012) at St. Francis Hospital. Louis was born in the Bronx, NY, the son of John and Anna (Newman) Halpryn and had lived in Manchester for many years. He received his masters from St. John's University and Columbia University and retired in 1996 as the Executive Director for the CT Assoc. of Health Care Facilities. Louis was an avid bridge player, gardener, golfer and reader. He was a past member of the Board of Governors of Manchester Country Club and was a lector and the first Eucharistic Minister at St. James Church. He also taught at the business schools at UCONN and RPI. Besides his wife Ada, Louis is survived by his son Andrew Halpryn and his wife Deborah of Vernon and their children Theodore, Amelia and Clarissa and his daughter Karen Halpryn Mealey of Leland, NC. Louis was also predeceased by his brother Ernest. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (2/21) at 10:00 at St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester. Burial will be private.
