Obituary of Glenna M. Cruff

Glenna M. Cruff, 88, of Manchester, and formerly of Attleboro, MA passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Manchester Manor Health Care Center. She was born in Attleboro, MA on September 12, 1925 to Albert P. and Helen B. (Holanetz) Clark and attended Attleboro High School where she was President of her 1943 graduating class. She graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 as a Registered Nurse and remained active in the MGH Alumni association for 40 years. She married the late Earl Russell Cruff of Attleboro on August 16, 1947 and lived in Worcester, MA before moving to Attleboro, MA in 1954. Glenna worked for many years at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro before joining the Sharon Manor Nursing Home in Sharon, MA as Director of Nursing in 1972. Glenna next assumed the position of Director for the Country Haven Nursing Home in Norton, MA from which she retired in 1996. After the death of her husband in 1999, she moved to the Arbors at Hop Brook retirement community in Manchester, CT in 2000. She has been a lifelong communicant of St John the Evangelist church in Attleboro and the Church of the Assumption in Manchester. She is survived by her son, Carlton E. and his wife Linda M. (Scieller) Cruff of Manchester, and their children Melanie (Cruff) and Frank Guest of Manchester, and Matthew Cruff of Manchester; her daughter, Patricia A. (Cruff) and her husband Martin Buerger of Menlo Park, CA and their children Meredith Buerger of New York, NY, and Emily (Buerger) and her husband Graham Pugh of Pittsburgh, PA. She was especially excited about her two great grandchildren, Ellis and Harrison Pugh. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her grandson Michael Buerger; and siblings Kenneth Clark and Barbara Allen. Special thanks to the staff at the Manchester Manor-West Wing, and the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of CT for their loving care and support. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (April 16th) at 9:30 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption 29 Adams Street South, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:30. A committal service will be held on at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. John Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
