Obituary of Donald E. Galli

Donald E. Galli, Sr., 92, of Manchester, the husband of the late Eleanor (Felice) Galli died Wednesday (April 9, 2014) at Touchpoints at Manchester. Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Bonifacio and Domenica (Libratore) Galli, and was a lifelong resident. He was a US Army veteran and Bronze Star recipient of World War II, having served in the European Theatre, including at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Don was on the Manchester High School football, baseball and basketball teams, was active with Manchester recreational softball, played fast pitch softball around the state of Connecticut with the Italian American Club and was an avid golfer and member of Manchester Country Club. He is survived by his son, Donald E. Galli, Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Manchester; his grandson Benjamin Galli of Manchester, several nieces and nephews, and his dear friend Astrid Weirzbicki. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his siblings Andrew Galli and Nellie Golas. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (April 19th) at 11:00 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
