Obituary of Richard L. McCabe

Richard L. McCabe, Jr., 69, of Manchester, beloved husband of Diane (Bouchard) McCabe died on Saturday (March 15, 2014) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Richard L. McCabe, Sr. and Harriet (Moriarty) Northrup. Richie was passionate about cars of all kinds and had a true love for motorcycles, including racing them for Manchester Honda in his younger days. He served in the U.S. Air Force for two years from 1962-1964. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and vacationing in the sun. He was also an avid UCONN Basketball fan. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Melanee McCabe; step-daughter Nicole Gottier and husband Eric; brother Curtis Northrup and wife Robin; and nieces and nephews, Mary and husband Welbi, Darcy and husband Tim, Kristen and husband Rob, Ashley and Joshua. He is also survived by his Aunt Florence Carpenter and husband Bryce; Uncle Ray Twible; Mother-in-law Germaine Bouchard of Florida; Brother-in-law Ronald Bouchard and wife Joanne; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also predeceased by his sister Joan McCabe; Aunt Judy Twible; and Uncle Edward Moriarty. A memorial service will be held on Sunday (March 23rd) at 3 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00-3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Hospice Program for VNA 8 Keynote Drive Vernon, CT 06066.
