Obituary of Jonas Pakalnis
Jonas Pakalnis, 92, of Manchester, the husband of the late Anna (Sadonis) Pakalnis died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Crestfield Nursing Home, Manchester. Born in Meistiškes, Lithuania, he had lived in Manchester for 51 years. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Hartford, a member of the Lithuanian American Committee, and the Lithuanian Veterans Ramovenai. Jonas retired from Chandler & Evans as a Tool & Die Maker after many years of service. He enjoyed working in his yard and on his house, and was always ready to help his family with any task. He also loved to share a meal or a drink with friends and family. A loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his daughters, Dana Filippini and Nijole Currie; his grandson Junio Filippini and his wife Karina; his great-granddaughter Vitoria; along with numerous relatives still in Lithuania. Funeral service will be held on Thursday (March 13th) at 10:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church 53 Capitol Ave. Hartford, followed by burial in East Cemetery, Manchester.
