Obituary of Patricia Sheehy

Patty (Patricia) Sheehy, 51, of Manchester, CT died on February 5, 2012, from pancreatic cancer in her family's Wethersfield home, surrounded by loved ones who cared for her under the compassionate guidance of Hospice. She waged a brief but courageous battle against this aggressive disease. Her fiancée Bill Tedford, of Manchester, was with her daily, providing unconditional love and support. Patty and Billy were to have been married this past December 17 in an intimate family ceremony, but she was hospitalized during that time and the wedding was postponed. Patty loved life and everybody loved Patty. Among her greatest accomplishments was the ability to bring humor and joy to others. She asked for so little from life, only that each day be filled with family, friends and laugher. Her greatest pleasures came from small moments, from days at the beach to playing setback, to "family days" and the occasional trips to Vegas, Disney or Florida's gulf coast. An award-winning Irish Step Dancer, Patty took a dream trip to Ireland in 2006, connecting with her Irish roots, meeting cousins and having the time of her life. Wherever you found Patty, you would find Ann, her "Irish Twin," the two of them inseparable since their playpen days. Affectionately called the family clown, Patty's take on life was contagious; she made everyone laugh and every day was better because of her. In addition to her fiancée, Patty leaves behind her father and stepmother, James & Patricia Sheehy of Wethersfield, her mother and stepfather, Theresa and Russell Curtiss of Manchester, her siblings and their spouses: Ann and Ernie Tupper, Kathleen and Bill Frattaroli, and Jim and Christy Sheehy. She also leaves nieces, nephews, a great nephew, aunts, uncles and a host of cousins. A graduate of Wethersfield High School, Patty carved out a career in customer service. For the past four years, she worked at Light Concept Nails in East Hartford, where she loved her job, the company, and her co-workers. We would like to thank everyone at LCN for their kindness, compassion and heartfelt generosity. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff of Hartford Hospital, especially oncologist Dr. Peter Schauer, and Masonicare Partners for exceptional care as they journeyed with Patty in her final days. There are no words to capture the depth of Patty's imprint on those who loved her. There will forever be a hole in our hearts and in our lives. All we can hope is that there is also a hole in the floor of heaven so that she can look down on us, send a joke or two, and one of her warm, infectious smiles. Patty's funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 8 at 10 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, CT, followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Hartford. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 7, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the John Tierney Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice in support of their invaluable service: 111 Founders Plaza, East Hartford, CT 06108, or through the website: www.masonicare.org.
