Obituary of George Racine Begin
George Racine Begin, 76, of Manchester, beloved husband of fifty-two years to Claudette (Poulin) Begin, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 13, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born in Hartford, CT on March 26, 1937, the son of the late Sylvia and Yvonne Racine Begin, he had lived in South Windsor before moving to Manchester. George had many careers in his lifetime but what he really enjoyed most were the numerous at home projects and hobbies he worked on during his spare time. Some of his hobbies included gardening, raising tropical fish, tinkering in the garage, going to tractor shows and helping his children with various projects. George was always willing to help his children with whatever they needed and took great pride in his work. His contributions to his family will be truly missed. Besides his beloved wife Claudette, he is survived by four sons, Andrew and his wife Theresa of Manchester, Steven and his wife Kathleen of Manchester, Roderick and his wife Julie of Bolton and Vernon of Willington, one daughter Rachel Gwiazdowski and her husband Stanislaw of Manchester; twelve grandchildren Melody, Monique, Bobby, Ryan, Benjamin, Jillian, Collin, Brandon, Brooke, Holly, Nicole and Matthew; his siblings Marcelle Darna, Claudette Fidler and Bruno Begin; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his son Darrell, two brothers Claude and Marc and his sister Ann Tessier. His family will receive relatives and friends at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester on Sunday February 16th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, 29 South Adams Street, Manchester.
