Obituary of Nanette C. Gray
Nanette (Cox) Gray, 84, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2014 at Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford Springs, CT. She was dearly loved by family and friends. "Nanny" was well known for her kind, gentle and giving spirit.
She was born in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the late Milton and Marion Cox. She met her husband "Corky" while working in the photo lab at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford. They lived and raised their family in Glastonbury and Manchester, CT. Nanette was also a beloved member of the Manchester, Vernon and Stafford Springs congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Nanette was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Cortland Gray; also her brother Roger Cox of Berlin, NY and his wife Doree. She was the loving mother of four children; Scott Gray, Randy Gray and wife Suzanne, Barry Gray, Melanie (Gray) Wilcox and husband Darren. "Grandma Nanny of the north" was dearly loved by her seven grandchildren; Caroline, Preston, Harrison, Reagan, Brandon, Connor and Bradley. Nan is also survived by her brother Bradford Cox and wife Carol of NH; her sister Susan Swafford and husband Walter of NC; sister-in-law JoAnn (Gray) Hoff and husband Robert of NC; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
There will be calling hours on Friday January 24th from 4-7pm at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St, Manchester, CT. A private burial is scheduled. A memorial talk will be given Saturday January 25th at 2pm at the Stafford Springs Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 79 Crystal Lake Rd, Stafford Springs, CT.
