Obituary of Anthony J. Sobol

Anthony J. Sobol, 98, the beloved husband of Viola (Houle) Sobol to whom he had been married for sixty-six years died on Thursday (January 9, 2014) at the State Veterans Hospital in Rocky Hill. Anthony was born in Worcester, MA the son of Anthony and Mary Sobol and had lived in Bolton for many years. He served in the US Army during World War II and retired after forty-two years of service with the State of CT as a transit bus driver. Tony was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Besides his wife, Viola, he is survived by his children Colonel Anthony Sobol, III retired of New Mexico, Donald Sobol of Willington, Paul Sobol of Hebron, Michael Sobol of Coventry, Gary Sobol of Stafford Springs and Patricia McDermott of Greenwich, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His sister Sophie Sobol and his sister-in-law Virginia Sobol. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Tuesday (1/14) from 4:00 - 7:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 on Wednesday at St. Maurice Church, Hebron Rd. Bolton. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial with full military honors, will follow in Bolton Center Cemetery, Bolton.
