Obituary of Merico M. Ruggiero

Merico M. "Rick" Ruggiero, 80, the husband of Dolores (Young) Ruggiero to whom he was married for fifty-six years died on Saturday (December 14, 2013) at Hartford Hospital after a long illness. Rick was born in Hartford the son of Frank and Elizabeth Ruggiero and was a graduate of Wethersfield High School.

He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Air Force. He was a long time member of the Manchester Army and Navy Club and prior to his retirement, he had worked for thirty years in the Engineering Dept. at Hartford Hospital. He adored his children and grandchildren and really enjoyed spending time with all his family. Rick loved helping with home projects, gardening and making wonderful toys in his woodworking shop. He was an avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan.

Besides Dolores he is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Sharon Ruggiero, Richard and Karen Ruggiero and Steven Ruggiero, and his grandchildren Michael, Ashley, Rachael, Samantha and Joseph Ruggiero, and Lauren and Rebecca Rancourt.

Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Tuesday (December 17th) from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends are requested to meet directly at church. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
