Obituary of Clifford Mathewson

Clifford W. Mathewson, 84, of Manchester the loving husband of sixty-three years to Eleanor Mathewson died Friday (February 29, 2008) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Rockville, he had lived in Manchester for many years. He had retired from Hamilton Standard as a Manufacturing Engineer. Clifford was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre. He was also an avid fan of the Red Sox and UCONN athletics especially women's basketball. Besides his wife he is survived by his children; Christine Nodine and her husband Raymond of Bristol, David Mathewson of Manchester, and Timothy Mathewson and his wife Tracey of Manchester; his grandchildren Jessica, Scott, Theresa, Stephen, Daniel and Katelyn. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Bryant and Olivia, and his sister Evelyn Ludwig of Rockville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday (March 4th) at 9:15 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Bartholomew Church followed by burial in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the VFW Post 2046 608 East Center St. Manchester, CT 06040.
