Obituary of Hubert J. Legassie

Hubert J. Legassie, 90, of Manchester, died Wednesday (October 16, 2013) at the Village at Buckland Court, South Windsor. Born in Ashland, ME he was the son of the late George and Sadie (Berubé) Legassie. Bert retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after 23 years of service. While in the Navy he had served on the USS Canberra, the USS Roanoke, in Germany and France. After the service, he retired from Hamilton Standard after 40 years of service. He is survived by his nephew Thomas G. Lagassie and his wife Lorraine, with whom he made his home, of Manchester, his close niece Donna Hargraves and her husband George of Enfield, his sister-in-law Pauline Legassie of Broad Brook, and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene Legassie Sr., George Legassie, Dana Legassie Sr. and Norman Legassie Sr. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (October 19th) at 11:30 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by burial in Hillstown Road Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30.
