Dorothy Mae (Whitcher) McKiernan, 84, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008 at Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford Springs with her family at her side. She was the widow of Vincent T. McKiernan, who died in 1998. A longtime resident of East Hartford, Dorothy was born in Plymouth NH to Erwin and Della Whitcher. She moved to CT as a young woman and was employed by Royal Typewriter, and then later by Travelers Insurance Co., until she retired in 1988. Dorothy is survived by her son Matthew McKiernan and his wife Marie DeJohn, of Willington, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Richard Whitcher of Windsor Locks and her sister Beverly Downing of Rochester NH. Calling hours will be 4-6 PM Friday February 15, 2008 at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester.
