Obituary of Caroline T. Avignone

Caroline Avignone, loving wife of the late Frank Avignone, died at the Manchester Memorial Hospital on Tuesday (July 30, 2013) surrounded by her loving family. She recently celebrated her one hundredth birthday. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Onorina Mangone. Born in Berlin, CT she was educated in New Britain Schools. Prior to her retirement she worked for Manchester Modes and the University Club of Hartford. Frank and Caroline did a lot of traveling both in the United States and Europe. After her husband died she retired at the Arbors Retirement in 1995, where she participated in a great many activities and made many friends. She really enjoyed living at the Arbors. She is survived by her sisters Violet Motola from Manchester and Esther Eddy from Newington. She was predeceased by her sisters Ruth Gallo, Lillian Battisto and Enis Gaioni. Funeral service will be held on Friday (August 2nd) at 11 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30 am at the Church of the Assumption 27 Adams St. South, Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9-11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
