Harry Edward Barrett, Jr., 75, of East Hartford, CT left this life on June 9, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry E. and Frances (Dempsey) Barrett Sr. and his beloved Sister Rita Calaf. Harry was born in Malden, MA on May 29, 1938. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a graduate of Manchester Community College. He worked on the Security Force at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft until retirement in 1997. He was beyond a dedicated guard, establishing friendships with many of the people employed at UTC and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by six children, Darlene DeGray and her husband Earl of Hawaii, Catherine Cerra and her partner Clayton Theriault of East Hartford, CT, Harry E. Barrett III and his wife Angela of Glastonbury, CT, Susan Barrett of Key West, FL, Kevin Barrett of Marlborough, CT, and Sean Barrett and his wife Matilda of South Windsor, CT. He will be missed tremendously by his fourteen grandchildren. He also leaves behind three sisters and a brother, Frances Mary Deshais, Elizabeth Douglas, William Barrett, Donna Paquin and an Aunt Jesse Dempsey as well as many nieces, nephews and countless people that consider him a friend. Harry enjoyed the last 14 years of life with and was predeceased by his loving companion Phyllis McDonough. Harry was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Red Sox. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, (June 12, 2013) at 8:30-10:30 a.m. at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St, Manchester, CT. A funeral service will follow at Church of the Assumption, 29 South Adams St. Manchester, CT at 11 am followed by a Christian Burial at Hillstown Veteran's Cemetery in Manchester, CT.
