Obituary of Michael R. Wakefield
Michael Richard Wakefield, 68, of East Hartford, passed away in his sleep on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was the son of the late Jack E. and Marilyn (Altaffer) Wakefield.
Michael graduated from Coginchaug Regional High School, and from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree in history. He lived most of his life in Durham, CT, and the most recent nine years he moved to East Hartford, CT, to be nearer to his brother.
He enjoyed a quiet life and spent many hours just reading or watching television.
Michael is survived by his brother Jack Wakefield Jr., his nieces Jennifer Height and Allison Goodwin and Christine Berlin, and his nephews Robert Wakefield and Daniel Wakefield. Michael was predeceased by his sister, Maryellen Wakefield and his brother, Richard Wakefield.
John F. Tierney Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. Burial will be held privately and take place at the convenience of the family.
