Obituary of Marilyn M. Donahue

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn M. Donahue, formerly known as Marilyn Chapman, at the age of 83. Marilyn was cherished as a mother, sister, teacher, aunt, and friend by countless individuals whose lives she touched. She was a longtime resident of Ellington CT and dedicated a significant portion of her life to teaching in the local school system before returning to her childhood home in the town of Manchester. Throughout her illustrious 30-year teaching career, she had a special place in our hearts for her unwavering support, encouragement, and adaptable teaching style. Marilyn was genuinely passionate about her profession and had a genuine love for working with children, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Anna Chapman, but her memory lives on through her surviving family members, including her sister Phyllis Chapman, her son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Lisa Donahue, and their two children Lauren and Leia.  She also left a lasting impact on many children whose lives she enriched with her dedication and caring nature. On a personal note, Marilyn was renowned for her legendary brownies, which seemed to have the miraculous ability to mend any troubles. Her kindness, generosity, and intelligence were qualities that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Marilyn graduated from Manchester High School in 1958 and later earned her degree from Eastern State University. Her educational journey was a testament to her commitment to learning and her desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

A celebration of life will be held at the Elks Lodge in Manchester, located on 30 Bissell St, at 12 pm on June 22, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
