Obituary of Frederick P. Mahr, Jr.

Frederick P. Mahr of Bolton, CT passed away on December 2, 2023, at Hartford Hospital after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Born December 15, 1949, he was predeceased by his parents Frederick P. Mahr and Muriel A. Hrusa Mahr and his sister Pamela M. Mahr. He is survived by his sister. Nancy and her husband James Watt, his brother Dr. Nicholas C. Mahr and his wife Lynn, his nephew Scott Mosher and niece Anne Mosher, his lifelong partner Patti Matthews, his close friends Bill and Debbi Lacy, as well as many other close friends and associates.

Fred’s career spanned a vast and interesting positions starting as a driver with the family owned business Mahr Freight Lines, after which he started his own business of import/export wholesale known as Psittaciaformes of N.E. specializing in exotic birds and reptiles, he then became a self-employed wine broker.

Fred was an accomplished fisherman, an avid outdoorsman, a gourmet cook who was always looking for new and better recipes. He was a unique individual with a great deal of character who will be missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor at 10 AM Thursday, December 7, 2023, with burial in First Congregational Church of South Windsor Cemetery, 993 Main Street, South Windsor, CT.
