John F. Flanagan, 87, of Coventry, beloved husband of Marilyn (Sullivan) Flanagan, passed away at his home on Friday, November 24th, 2023. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Harold and Genevieve (Crowley) Flanagan. He was a veteran of the United States Army, starting his military career in 1954 and retiring in 1984. John had a very gratifying career in the United States Postal Service, retiring after 30 years as Postmaster in Enfield, CT.

After retirement, John volunteered at Westover Air Reserve base in Massachusetts for their “Space A” program for around 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1771 and remained active with them, rendering military honors for our fallen brothers and sisters for over 20 years. John also was active in the 169th Infantry Veterans Corp. located in New Britain, as well as serving as Captain in the 1st Company Governor's Foot Guard in Hartford.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years Marilyn, and children John Flanagan and his wife Jennifer, Kim Watson and her husband Michael, Brian Flanagan and his wife Cheryl, Kathy Bradley and her husband Patrick as well as nine grandchildren Cailyn, Jacob, Kate, Emma, Molly, Ben, Brendan, William and Kevin.
