Robert J. "Bob" Millerd, 85, the beloved husband of Gail (Shea) Millerd died at his home in Vernon on Wednesday (March 27, 2013). He was born in Willimantic the son of George and Mae (Carl) Millerd, he moved to Coventry in 1985 before coming to Manchester thirteen years ago. He served in the US Navy during World War II and had formerly worked at the John Hancock Insurance Co and with the Holmes Insurance Agency of Manchester. Bob was a communicant of St. Bridget Church, Manchester and loved to visit Aruba, his home away from home. Besides Gail he is survived by his devoted children Jan Murphy and her husband Patrick of Cheshire, Joan Pinney and her husband Brian of Storrs, Robert Millerd and his wife Nancy of Columbia and Ken Millerd of South Windsor; his step children Laurie Kennedy of West Hartford and Cheryl Rondinone and her husband Richard of Enfield and his son-in-law Brian Beckwith. He is also survived by his grandchildren Erin, Paul, Patrick, Lauren, Andrew, Joseph, Matthew, Vika, Alyssa and Justin and his step-grandchildren Kristen, Meaghan and Brittney and his great-grandson Michael. Bob was also predeceased by his brothers George and James Millerd and his step-daughter Susan Beckwith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 at St. Bridget Church, Manchester followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury.
