Obituary of Thomas A. Bailey

Thomas A. Bailey, 93, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late June (Siteman) Bailey, died peacefully Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born March 8, 1930, in Manchester, son of the late Alden and Catherine (Coleman) Bailey. Thomas was in the Counterintelligence Corp with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Bailey worked as an attorney from 1955 until his retirement in 1991, as a partner in the law firm of Gilman & Marks. He was on the Manchester Board of Directors from 1959-1962, Deputy Major for the Town of Manchester, Secretary of the Manchester Board of Education, Two Charter Vision Commission, Chairman of the Manchester Redevelopment Agency. He also was a Director of the Savings Bank of Manchester, and a member of the Hartford County Bar Association, Manchester Bar Association, and the Manchester Lodge of Elks.

He is survived by his son Thomas A. Bailey Jr. of Glastonbury; three daughters Donna C. Boyce of Worcester, MA, Brenda A. Bailey and her husband Jeffrey Duckham of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Eileen C. Needham of Sacramento, CA; three grandchildren Amanda M. Phillips and her husband Sam, Adam D. Boyce, and Michael A. Needham; great grandchildren Jax, Cate and Wes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 10^th, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester, followed by burial at St. James Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
