Robert John Paterno, Sr.
July 14, 1937 to October 9, 2023

It is with heavy hearts, that the loving family of Robert John Paterno, Sr., of Vernon, CT, formally of Newington, and long-time summer resident of Old Saybrook, share his passing on October 9, 2023. He was born in Hartford, CT to John Paterno and Mary (DiNapoli) Paterno on July 14, 1937. Bob was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Diane (Savonis) Paterno, daughter Melissa (Paterno) Bray and her husband William, Sr. of Willington, CT, son Robert J. Paterno, Jr. and his wife Claudia of Lyons, Colorado, and grandchildren: Adeline, William K., Jr, Clark, John, Katherine, Joseph Bray, and Simone and Enzo Paterno.

Bob was a graduate of the University of Hartford and a career accountant at Northeast Utilities/Eversource. Bob’s family came first. He always offered unwavering love, support, and generosity.
