Obituary of Peter R. Dumaine

Peter Roger Dumaine of Columbia, Connecticut, passed peacefully at home on October 1st, 2023, at the age of 71 with his family by his side.

Peter was born in Hartford, Connecticut on July 9th, 1952.

Peter married Michele Fiano Dumaine on April 9th, 1983. They purchased a home in Columbia where they resided together for over thirty-five years.

After a long career as a professional chef, he retired from the hospitality industry. He continued to work part-time in kitchen management for the local non-profit Catholic Diocese of Norwich. His love for cooking remained one of his passions.

Peter was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the sport with many friends and family members over the years. On bright sunny days, and even rainy ones, Peter and Michele shared a passion for cultivating the most beautiful gardens. They became expert seed savers, passing down year after year their own favorite heirloom varieties, sharing their knowledge with friends and family alike. When he was not on a boat, or in his garden, you could often find Peter with a cribbage board looking for his next challenger.

Peter is survived by his wife Michele, his two sons, Jonathan and Roger and his grandchildren, Elijah and Juniper as well as his siblings Susan, Richard, Michael, and David.

Family and friends may call on the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street, Manchester, on Sunday, October 8^th, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A celebration of life will immediately follow, details to be finalized. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the link below to assist the family with funeral expenses. Half of the proceeds will be donated to The American Heart Association in honor of Peter.
