Kevin Macksey McMahon, 27, of Simsbury, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 19 at home. A beloved son, Kevin was born in Hartford on April 23, 1985 to Sara E. Miner Slitt and Joseph P. McMahon. Kevin attended Simsbury public schools and the Farmington Valley Transition Academy. Kevin was employed through FAVARH's Life Enrichment Opportunities (LEO) program. Kevin will be remembered for his love of family and food; his kind, innocent, honest and gentle manner; his many friends at FAVARH and Special Olympics. Kevin especially enjoyed Beatles music and family get-togethers where he served as statistician, remembering everyone's birthdates and anniversaries. An avid Yankees fan and sometimes regular at Connecticut Whale games, Kevin was quite proud of his Special Olympics medals in snowshoeing, track, bowling and golf events. He is survived by his father, Joseph P. McMahon of West Hartford, his mother and father Sara and Wayne Slitt of Simsbury; his brother, Peter McMahon of San Diego, CA; his sisters Hannah and Sophia Finn-McMahon and his brother, Callan Finn-McMahon and their mother Eileen Finn all of West Hartford; his brothers Brian (Christina) Slitt of Ashland, MA and Michael (Rachel) Slitt of Bloomfield, CT; his maternal aunts and uncles Susan (David) Lyons, David (Mary) Miner, Deborah Miner all of Manchester, CT; Wendy (Robert) Warner of Bellingham, WA and Richard (Susan) Carey of Center Sandwich, NH; his paternal aunts and uncles Frances Peterson of South Portland, ME, Catherine McMahon of Harrison, ME, James (Ellen) McMahon of Quaker Hill, CT, Paul (Midge) McMahon of Westminster, CA, John (Kathleen) McMahon of Newington, CT; his grandmother, Dorothy Slitt of West Hartford; and aunt, Carol Gill of Farmington and uncle, Mark Slitt of Bloomfield. He also leaves many cousins and a niece and nephew. He also leaves his special friend Debbie. Calling hours are on Friday, March 22 from 5:00 to 8:00 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street in Manchester, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday at St. Bartholomew Church, 736 Middle Turnpike in Manchester. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery on Broad Street in Manchester.
