Obituary of Edna Hennessey
Edna P. Hennessey, 94, of Manchester, beloved wife of 68 years to the late John Hennessey, passed away on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at Manchester Manor. She was born in Manchester, daughter of the late Willard and Ann (Clifford) Perine.
Edna graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1946 and was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. She worked at the Hartford Armory, a private secretary for the Soldier, Sailor and Marine Fund. She loved her flower garden, especially the rose bushes her husband cared for, watching the UCONN Women’s basketball games, and knitting. For many years, she had a canary named Goldie that would sing along with her.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Hennessey of Columbia, Margaret Phillips-Lamay (David) of Vernon, and Eileen Beaulieu (Gil) of Lebanon; her grandchildren Laura Phillips, Korrin Phillips, Nicole Maenza (Roc), Ben Beaulieu (Amanda), Kelly Zelinsky (Jason); her great-grandchildren Brittani Phillips, Raymond Phillips (Makayla), Jonah Phillips, Hannah Phillips, Liam Phillips, Rocco-Gil Maenza, Coleson Maenza, Alexis Maenza, Raelyn Beaulieu, Brody Beaulieu, Camryn Zelinsky and Morgan Zelinsky.
She was predeceased by her parents, grandson Shane Phillips, brother Walter Perine, special family friends Ed and Marjorie Bars, cousins Evelyn and Earl Darby, and her knitting partner, walking friend, and neighbor for over 30 years, Brenda Osborne.
Family and friends may call on the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, on Sunday, September 17th, from 4-6 p.m. A funeral home service will be held on Monday, September 18th, at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in East Cemetery.
