Obituary of Lucille M. Battagler

Lucille M. Battagler, 77, of Manchester, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Daughter of the late Anthony and Joan (Birchall) Starace, Lucille was born on September 4, 1946, in Hartford. 

Lucille and her husband Tommy were the owners and operators of Giant Grinders in Enfield, Papa Joe's in Manchester  but most noteably Tommy's Pizzaria I and Tommy's Pizzaria II in Manchester for many years.

Lucille was a very loving mother and wife. She was a member of St. Bridget's Church, in Manchester. In her free time, Lucille enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles while preparing her family's favorite meals, such as her traditional holiday lasagna. Lucille loved her home and took pride in her housekeeping. Lucille was an avid Red Sox fan.

Lucille is survived by her loving husband Tommy, just celebrating  their 57th wedding anniversary.  She is also survived by her son, Patrick and his wife Melody of Manchester;  brother Michael Starace and his wife, Patricia of Newington; sister Joanne Starace of Wethersfield; special friends Pat Martens of Vernon;  Diane Bayek of Wethersfield and loved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. in Manchester on Thursday, September 14th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St. in Manchester. The burial will take place immediately after at Valley Falls Cemetery in Vernon.
