Obituary of Mary Frances Roy

Mary Frances Roy, daughter of Napoleon and Angelina Begin, passed away on August 19th, 2023, after a brief illness at the age of 96.

She is pre-deceased by her first husband Joseph S. Hriczo, her son Henry J. Roy Jr., her stepdaughter Patricia Roy, her sisters Cecelia Basso, Margaret Collet, Alice Hill, her brothers Romeo Begin, John Begin, Edward Begin, Benjamin Begin and her half-brother Leo Begin.

She is survived by her second husband Henry J. Roy, her son Joseph W. Hriczo and her stepson Michael J. Roy.

Mary was born in Torrington, CT and lived there until 1967.  She attended Saint Francis Elementary School and Torrington High School.  She married Joseph on September 13, 1947, and gave birth to her son Joseph in 1956.  After her husband died in 1958, she made a lot of sacrifices as a single mother to provide loving care to her son.  On January 8, 1967, Mary married Henry, moved to Colebrook, CT and gave birth to her son Henry in 1968.

In her final years Mary was cared for by her son Joseph.  Despite declining due to age and various health problems she was always cheerful and a joy to be with.  Although not able to live with Henry during the Covid pandemic, she was able to share the final six months of her life with Henry who came to live with her and Joseph.

Mary was a very religious traditional Catholic.  Although she was home-bound, she watched the television Mass almost every day.  She had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and prayed the Angelus twice a day with her son.  God willing, she is now with Him in Heaven.
