Obituary of Gregory T. Pezzente

Gregory Thomas Pezzente, 68, of New London, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Son of the late Charles and Irene (Allen) Pezzente, Greg was born on July 11, 1955, in Hartford, CT. 

Greg graduated from Tolland High School and went on to a successful career with Safelite AutoGlass, during which time he helped to raise his three daughters with his first wife, Beth, in Danielson, CT. As a child, he was full of life and energy, earning him the nickname “Alvin”, affectionately given by his father, and shared amongst his siblings. In adulthood, Greg had a passion for classic cars and keeping busy. His daughters would join him in the garage while he worked on everything from house projects to rebuilding engines, and he taught the girls about table saws, brake lines, and oil changes. Summers were filled with family camping trips in the New England mountains, pool parties, and family gatherings at his father’s seasonal home at the shores in Niantic.

Gregory lived life with an open heart. He was always willing, and would often seek out ways to help anyone. He loved his family and friends equally and with such intensity, and he was so loved in return. He would drop everything to both share in accomplishments and offer support without hesitation, and the pride he had in his children and grandchildren was known by everyone he met.  

Gregory is survived by his children, Jennifer Pezzente-Kelkowski and her husband Ethan, Jamie Kania, and Jessica Walsh and her husband Owen; his grandchildren, Riley Summers and Elsie Kelkowski, Roman and Nora Kania, and Silas and Evan Walsh; his siblings, Charles Pezzente and his wife Heidi, Allene Barnard, Cory Pezzente, Denise Okonuk and her husband John, along with his step-sister Kathy; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
