Obituary of Harold N. A. Rowett

Harold N.A. Rowett, 71, left earth and reunited with his wife on Monday, July 10 surrounded by family. Born as Harold in Manchester on February 9, 1952, his friends knew him as Hal and everyone knew him as a jokester. He attended the army after high school and was stationed in Germany where he met and married Margitta Butzke, before returning home and raising four children together.

Even though he was a dad, it did not stop him from living wild and fearless – we all have a “Hal story”! He was a skilled carpenter and jack of all trades, a social butterfly, a storyteller, a true friend in times of need, and could live off of Coca Cola and potato chips if stranded on a deserted island. While his health declined in recent years, he loved to watch wrestling, playing online games, joking with his aides, and satisfying his sweet tooth.

He is survived by his children Jason Rowett, Jamie Shewokis, James Rowett, and Joyce Fortin; his grandchildren Destiny, Brendon, Jordyn and Vinny; great grandson Kayden, and his sisters Elin Fortin and Susan Rowett as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Hal was predeceased by the love of his life, Margitta Rowett, his parents Harold N. and Lucille Rowett, and his sisters Linda Rowett and Jo Ellen Rowett.

A celebration of life will be held at Three J’s Café in Bolton on Saturday, September 2 at 2p.m. Burial will be private.
