Obituary of Emily Cycenas

Emily Ann (Pomarico) Cycenas, 86, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late John R. Cycenas. 

Emily was born in New Haven, CT and was the daughter of the late John and Antoinette Consorte Pomarico. She is survived by her children Joan of Santa Ana, California, John and wife Tracey of Ellington, Mark of Coventry, Matthew and wife Wendy of Coventry, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her brother, George Pomarico of New Jersey and many nieces and nephews.

She had been employed by the US Civil Service, McDonald’s Restaurant as Training Director, and many years as secretary for Church of the Assumption. Emily was a parishioner of Church of the Assumption for over 50 years during which she held many volunteer positions and made lifelong friends.

Emily was known for her quick and witty personality. She loved practical jokes, reading books, doing word search and crossword puzzles, along with baking cookies for all the holidays, family/friend get-togethers and catering events alongside her husband.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 15th, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, 27 Adams St. South, Manchester, CT. Interment will be at the St. James Cemetery.
