Obituary of Arlene C. Giglio

Arlene Cushman Giglio, 90, of Bolton, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 4^th, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Mike, and her two sisters, Barbara Kovacik and Dorothy Misuraca.  She is survived by her son, Glenn and his wife Lynn, grandsons Kirk and Spencer, her daughter, Noreen Darigo, her husband, David Darigo, and their two children, Jaclyn and Christopher and his wife Carolyn.

Arlene was born in Brattleboro, VT on October 5, 1932, and graduated from Rockville High School in 1949.  She has always worked outside the home until she retired from CT Transit.

She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Linda Taber and Rosann Taylor, along with several extended family members including many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arlene loved going to her weekly painting class on Wednesday nights and created wonderful pieces of art that filled us all with joy.  In this class she made many great lifelong friends.  She had a green thumb and often spent time in her beautiful gardens and had numerous indoor plants all year round. Arlene was very active in the Bolton Senior Center acting as treasurer, playing Mexican Train, attending chair yoga, and helping out the knitting group pass on their yarn. She was an altar server for many decades, taking the 7:00 a.m. mass throughout the years.

Arlene's family would like to thank the outstanding assistance they received from Masonicare, with special recognition to Lauren Kupper.  Also, extra thanks for Shuna Smith from Right at Home home health for her excellent and loving care.

Honorable mention goes to a little dog named Mia who was a constant comforter and companion. Arlene will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

Family and friends may call on the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street in Manchester on Thursday, June 8^th, from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 9^th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maurice Church, 32 Hebron Road in Bolton, followed by burial at Bolton Center Cemetery.
