Obituary of Rudolph L. Dupont

Rudolph Lawrence “Rudy” “Larry” Dupont, 85, of Manchester, passed away on April 25th, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital with his loving family by his side. Son of the late George and Irene (Handfield) Dupont, Rudy was born on September 12, 1937, in Willimantic.

Rudy attended Howell Cheney Tech in his younger years, however left to join the United States Marine Corps. He was a proud Sergeant, serving from 1954 – 1958. Many years later, he was so proud to receive his GED.

In 1960, he married the love of his life, Carol McHugh, and together they raised their 3 children. He went on to own his own gas stations in town. He retired from the Board of Education, Building and Grounds, as a mechanic. After retirement, he enjoyed car shows and car cruises with his 1964 T-Bird, dinner with family and friends, and growing a vegetable garden.

Besides his wife, Rudy is survived by his children Lawrence (Lisa) Dupont, Sharon (Kenneth) Francis, Edward (Jennifer) Dupont; grandchildren Katrina (David) Francis, Kyle Francis, Alexander Dupont, Meghan Dupont, Elizabeth Arcouette & Felicia Favreau; greatgrandchildren Tristan, Paxton & Coen Francis; sisters Georgetta Campbell, Norma Martin, Beverly Sunderland, Lynn Dupont & Denise Mozzer; sisters-in-law Lucille Dupont & Joanne Walker; brother-in-law Gary (Sharon) McHugh. He was predeceased by sisters Phyllis, Gloria, Claire, Joyce and brothers Ronald, Gilbert and Kenneth Dupont, and brother-in-law John McHugh.

John F. Tierney Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, May 6th, at 11:00 at East Cemetery, 240 E. Center St. in Manchester.
