Obituary of Ronald R. Albert

With great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Ronald R. Albert. He passed peacefully on April 16, 2023, with his wife Cheri, daughter Lisa and son Louis by his side. He was born October 16, 1934, in Hartford, son of Alcide and Edith (Labbe) Albert. Raised in Manchester and graduating from St. James School and Manchester High School, where he was recognized as an all-star football player. He continued his education at the University of Hartford.

Professionally, Ron joined Gray Manufacturing of Hartford and Tecumseh Michigan in 1958, where he became Project Engineer of the Industrial Design Department including Government and Military specifications. In 1964, Ron joined Faraday Corp of Michigan, Special Design Engineer for large system projects that included such diverse projects as Rikers Island Prison, NY, and the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge, CA. Designing their fire alarm and security alarm systems. In 1971, Ron returned to Bolton, Connecticut and joined Telcom Inc. as a Sales Engineer Associate responsible for the design and specifications of Electronic Systems including Fire Alarm, Security, Hospital Nurse Call, Professional Sound, and Paging Systems. Upon the sale of Telcom, Inc. in 1999, Ron chose to join TPC Associates in the same capacity. He retired in 2004 after completion of his largest commercial project Mohegan Sun Casino and Mohegan Sun Hotel fire alarm systems. He enjoyed driving with his wife and friends through the Connecticut country side identifying his completed projects. In his personal life, he was a devout Catholic. A president of the Tecumseh Jaycees creating many successful events. A member of the American Legion, Manchester Elks Lodge, and Moose Lodge. He was an avid setback and euchre player. Ron was passionate about boating in the Florida Keys and Everglades with his Sea-Doo jet boat and with family and friends on Long Island Sound with his favored “SEAU” Sea Ray. Ron also treasured his days golfing with Moulton Bros. golf league aka the Connecticut Dirty Dozen and as a former Manchester Country Club member.

He was the eldest of 33 Albert cousins. Many of them originating in New Brunswick, Canada. He spent his summers with his adored grandparents Fred & Elise Albert on their farm in Saint Hilaire. Later he enjoyed entertaining his cousins with the hilarious stories of his “New Brunswick” days. Special cousins Peter & Rinette were like a brother and sister to him. And darling “coozin” Rolanda could be relied upon to master mind many happy occasions. He leaves a multitude of precious cousins and friends.

He enjoyed traveling through the United States National Parks. He favored Alaska, British Columbia, and Canada provinces. Exploring Caribbean Islands and bicycling. Also, many fun filled Mexico holidays, swimming at Xcaret with dolphins, parasailing at Puerto Vallarta, and climbing Mayan ruins.

He is survived by his cherished wife Cheri (Wyman Conley), his children affectionately known as the Five L’s: Laurie Pyka Fultz, Luc, Lisa (Mike) Hassett, Louis (Sheilah Keane), and Lance (Fiona MacPherson); beloved grandchildren Taylor (Jason) Pyka Chilly, Jeff (Jessica) Pyka, Daniel (Ashley) Albert, Cody Albert, Felicia & Sean Hassett, Alora & Shay Albert, Andrew, Cameron & Brodie Albert; his stepson James “Rick” (Jacqueline) Conley; great-grandchildren Kayley & Teagan Albert, and a very imminent and dearly expected Pyka. He was predeceased by his former wife Mildred Chambers, daughter Laurie and brother Norman. He is joined in eternal rest with his special friends; John Calkins, Warren Andrulat, and Donald Hollister.

Ron was known for his quick wit and inventive humor. He was very special. A strong and stoic man. He lived well, loved much and laughed often. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He is missed dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 9^th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT.  Burial will follow at Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls Road, Vernon, CT.
