Obituary of Michael A. Spencer

Michael Arthur Spencer, 86, of Bolton, CT, entered eternal peace at Hartford Hospital on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Son of the late Joseph Marcus and Louise (Saunders) Spencer, Michael was born on August 15, 1936.

Michael graduated from Hall High School and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Veteran of the Korean War. A true Marine, he loved his country with a passion and took pride in serving for the freedoms we all enjoy today. In 1977, he married the love of his life, Anna Spencer, and together they have shared a lifetime of laughter, joy, and faith. Michael often found himself striking up conversations with anyone who would listen, sharing his love of life through his humor, generosity, and warm spirit, leaving those around him feeling loved and encouraged.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Anna; their three sons, Michael Spencer and his children Joshua and Madison; Ryan (Claire) Spencer and their children, MacKenzie and Aiden, and Joseph Marcus Spencer; his second wife, Virginia, and their two children, Jennifer and Susan; he was predeceased by his first wife Lucy, and they share their six children Sharon, Sheila, Tina, Theresa, Joseph Michael, and Jeanette; his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Spencer who was predeceased by his brother Robert; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews, and friends especially Robert Bozio who holds a special place in his heart, and the Valonis Family, his dearest and longest friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street in Manchester, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has expressed that you please make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
