Obituary of Anthony J. Gryk, Jr.

Attorney Anthony J. “AJ” Gryk, Jr., 63, of South Windsor and Manchester, beloved husband of Marijane (Parizo) Gryk, passed away at Hartford Hospital after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday, February 20th, 2023. Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Anne (Bankowski) and Anthony J. Gryk, Sr.

He was a 1977 graduate of East Catholic High School, 1981 graduate of Assumption College and 1986 graduate of Delaware Law School of Widener University.

AJ was one of the founding members of the law firm Gryk & Frolich LLC, the longest serving President of the Manchester Bar Association, an active Boy Scout Leader for Troop 47 for many years and an Adjunct Professor for Paralegal Studies at Manchester Community College for 25 years. He loved spending his spare time with his son Shawn doing home renovations and other fixer-upper projects.

AJ is survived by his wife Marijane, son Shawn Gryk of South Windsor; his sisters Attorney Evelyn Gryk Frolich and her husband Edward Rowe of Manchester, Susan Ellen Robinson and her husband Wyley of Andover, MA, and Carol Anne Foster of Miami Springs, FL; his nieces and nephews Vincent (Colleen) Frolich of Phoenixville, PA, Krystyna (Jason) Scott of Liberty Hill, TX, Keith (Sarah) Robinson of Andover, MA, Dr. Jocelyn Robinson (Kevin Prim) of Tucson, AZ, Rachel Robinson (Alex Velazquez) of Arlington, VA, Jessica Foster of Coral Gables, FL, Rebecca Foster of Nashville, TN, Nicholas Foster of Cape Coral, FL; great nieces and nephews Matthew and Emily Robinson, Lucinda Velazquez, Eloise Scott, Finn and Juliet Frolich; as well as dear friends Anne and Peter Williamson. He was predeceased by his son Brian Gryk and nephew Adam Timrud.

Family and friends may call on the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., in Manchester on Friday, March 3rd, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 53 Capital Avenue in Hartford followed by burial at St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Institute at pancan.org.
