Obituary of Anne-Louise Gracyalny

Anne-Louise Gracyalny, 93, of Manchester, CT, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Daughter of the late John C. and Dena (Camara) Mello, she was born in Warren, Rhode Island. 

Anne-Louise graduated from St, Mary Academy - Bay View in East Providence RI. in 1946. She met her future husband, Edward, her senior year, and they were married in 1949. Anne-Louise was the first member of her family to attend college and graduated in 1950 from Rhode Island College of Education (now URI).  In 1957 she, Edward and their 3 small children moved to Manchester CT.  where she started her teaching career.  She continued her education earning both her Masters and Administrative degrees.  Anne-Louise taught at Bennet Junior High school (now Bennet Academy) for 31 years, most of which she spent as head of the Math department.  She was an active member of the St. James Ladies Guild as well as being an organist.

After her retirement, and for the next 27 years, Anne-Louise became a volunteer at the Manchester Memorial Hospital Gift shop.  She and her husband, Edward enjoyed many memorable trips and cruises with their favorite destinations being London, Portugal, and Switzerland. 

Anne-Louise was predeceased in 2006 by her husband, Edward, and is survived by her children, John C. Gracyalny and his wife Veronica of McKinleyville, CA, Anne E. Green and her husband Bill Green Jr. of Vernon, Mary L. Gracyalny of Manchester, and "adopted" son Gary Bunce of Manchester. 

John F. Tierney Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, December 5^th at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church, 896 Main Street in Manchester.  Burial will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery in Glastonbury.
