Obituary of Joseph Kalafut

Joseph Kalafut, 71, of Rocky Hill passed away on October 29, 2022 after a brief illness. Joe was born in Hartford on June 14, 1951 to the late Helen (Przbycien) and Andrew Kalafut. He lived with his family until 1971, when he was admitted to Mansfield Training School. From there, Joe moved to his current home in Rocky Hill in 1985. Joe participated in day programs with HARC, DDS and most recently, CRI in Newington, where he had very special relationships with peers, staff, and peers’ family members.

Joe leaves his sister, Linda Kalafut, of Wethersfield. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother, Roger Kalafut.

Joe will be truly missed by many friends, staff members and team members who cared for him throughout his life. He was a kind, gentle man with a warm smile who loved coffee, desserts, pizza, and squishy toys. Joe was a man of few words, but he made his feelings known.

A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11:00am at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
