Obituary of Norman E. Barnard

Norman Barnard, 86, loving husband of 61 years to the late Rita Barnard, passed away on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022. Norman is survived by his three daughters, Monique Barnard, Darby Kwasnik and Dawn Raposa, son-in-law Brian Kwasnik, six grandchildren Danielle, Jessica, Manny, Morgan, Josh and Rachel, five great grandchildren Nathan, Kayla, Kaiya, Dominic and Maggie, and nephew Walter Jacob and his wife Nancy. 

 

Norman was born in Winsted, CT, and moved to Bolton in 1968, where he lived for 53 years. He graduated from Technical High School and went on to serve in the US Army for 2 years. He worked for Kramer and Kramer, where he met Rita. He later worked for Electric Boat, until his retirement in 2001.

 

Norman loved sports, he played softball and coached his daughter’s teams for many years. He was an avid Red Sox fan; he brought his family to many games at Fenway Park. He also loved the beach and spent many summers vacationing at the Cape.

 

Norman and Rita joined a bowling league together, he enjoyed running, and participated in the Manchester Road race for many years. He biked, went to the gym and loved the senior center. Norman also enjoyed his computer, sending and receiving funny emails. He loved a good crossword puzzle, as well as photography. 

 

Family and friends may call on the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, on Friday, October 7th, from 1-4 p.m. 

 

Norman will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Manchester Senior Center, Manchester, CT, would be greatly appreciated.
