Obituary of Bruce A. Cantrell

Bruce Allen Cantrell, 91, of Manchester, CT, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Bruce was born to Kenneth Cantrell and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Cantrell in Norwalk, CT in 1931, the middle child of nine.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 66 years, Yvette (Bedard) Cantrell, his daughters Cheryl Dec, Renee Meucci and her husband Paul, Andrea Bertussi and her husband Todd, and his sons-in-law Jeffrey Warner and Durward Croft.  He was predeceased by his eight siblings and his daughters Denise Cantrell and Celeste Cantrell. 

He was proud to be the grandfather of Danielle Sears, Katie Meucci, Paul Meucci, Bruce Croft, Austin Croft, Elizabeth Croft, Nichole Bissonnette, Kayla Bertussi and Chelsea Bertussi.  He was great grandfather to Louis Lancelin, Jason Lancelin, Wilder Meucci and Cal Meucci; and great-great grandfather to Jaxson Lancelin.

Bruce had been a mess cook in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He was a volunteer fireman for the Town of Manchester, a member of the Manchester Rod and Gun Club, an avid race car fan, and enjoyed many cruises and trips abroad with his daughter Renee and her husband Paul.

Bruce had been employed at Pratt & Whitney before deciding to open his own car repair business, Foreign Cars of Manchester.  In 1984, after closing the business, he was employed as a custodian by the Glastonbury School system.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 7th at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption, 27 Adams St. South, Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Broad St., Manchester.
